Qiong “Ruby” Qiu, NP, Ph.D.

Qiong Ruby Qiu

The rewarding experience of caring for people and helping them to maintain a quality of life in health brings me the greatest satisfaction. I enjoy meeting people, listening to their needs, and providing the best care possible.

I received my undergraduate training in Medicine and Master’s Degree in Immunology in China, where I was born and raised. The desire for a greater understanding of diseases drove me to pursue a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences at the University of Texas-Houston Health Science Center and MD Anderson Cancer Center.

After I earned Ph.D.in 2005, I worked as a research scientist for more than a decade, leading and collaborating with others to conduct frontline research projects on aging at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston (TX) and cancer research at Duke University (NC).

The ABSN program at Duke University School of Nursing is where I started my nursing career. After working at Duke Raleigh Hospital for nearly 5 years on a Medical-Surgical floor, I earned a master’s degree in adult-gerontology nurse practitioner program from Duke University School of Nursing in 2020.

In my free time I love cooking and traveling. Currently, I am learning how to plant and garden. My previous attempts have not been very successful, so I’m excited to try again!

Specialized training: Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program with Subspecialty in Endocrinology.
