Dr. Ashley Wofford Leong

Born in New Hampshire, and raised in Cary, NC, Ashley Wofford Leong, MD, MPH has lived in Arizona for the past few years with her husband. While they loved the desert state and living there, they moved back to North Carolina to be closer to family.

Dr. Wofford attended the University of Southern California for her undergraduate work, after which she went on to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. There she earned her Master of Public Health and her Doctorate of Medicine. From 2012-2015 she completed her Residency training at the University of Arizona in Family & Community Medicine.

When asked why she enjoys practicing medicine, Dr. Wofford explains, “The part of medicine that is most satisfying to me is empowering my patients with the knowledge and skills they need to take control of their health. I cherish the relationships I have with my patients, and count it an honor to work in family medicine where I am able to care for the entire family, whether a mom and baby who are struggling with breastfeeding, or an older family member who is facing medical decision-making about the end of life. The variety of care required for family medicine keeps me engaged and committed to learning and providing the best possible care for my patients.”

When not working, Dr. Wofford spends most of her time with her husband and young daughter. She also enjoys being outside, reading, singing, seeing shows, traveling, and pulling for the NC State Wolfpack. The family also has a beagle and is involved in their church community.
